TAKE TWO! Jory’s Design Challenge

All of my clients know that I always encourage “livable luxury,” and while I want the space to look amazing when it’s finished, I want to make sure it is not only something that is practical for their lifestyle, but also something they can really grow with over time. When you invest in classic and timeless furnishings, it gives you an awesome base to play with as your style evolves over time. When you have a great foundation to build on, swapping out throw pillows, artwork, and a few primary accessories can give a space a whole new identity and a refreshed look.

A blend of richer dark tones creates a moody and dramatic vibe, even when contrasted against a brighter color palette. Dependent upon the textiles you play with, this also tends to create more of a cozy and elegant environment. When playing with brighter tones, I tend to focus a lot more on the textures I’m playing with and bring much of my interest in that way. These spaces innately feel a lot more open and often more casual.

When introducing color into a space, I also focus more so on color temperature than anything. Jewel tones will naturally create a more elevated and polished appearance, while pastels and primaries bring a lot of fun and energy to a space. You can also give a space a personality of its own by marrying the two and introducing prints in multiples scales. That will really bring a space to life!
