Delightful Dining

Photography by Dan Piassick

A wallpaper mural in Sky Blue sets the stage for a delightful dining experience in my client’s home. Traditionally, the dining room is a bit formal and may seem somewhat untouchable, uninviting, and meant for those ever-so-few formal dining occasions. Since it is the first room you see when entering their home, my clients wanted to create a welcoming invitation for family and friends to sit and stay a while. We happily accepted the task of making their dining room the hub of their family gatherings and the center of attention. Guests are always impressed with its inviting and elevated décor and happy palette of blues.

To set the mood, we selected the Sky Blue floral wallpaper with birds, blossoms, and vines in order to create an intriguing and happy feel. Grand chairs in complementing light and dark blues surround the wood high gloss dining table. A gold bar cart tucked away in the corner is the perfect location for easy access when serving or pouring an after-dinner drink. Adding the Audrey permanent botanical from The Shay Geyer Collection brought in a bold fuchsia color to pop off the navy drapery panels and blue accents. The mirrored buffet was styled with matching gold lamps that complement the hardware on the piece. The pagoda-style mirror showcases the height of the ceilings and reflects the stunning wallpaper. We completed this dynamic room with a jeweled chandelier and large hand-knotted rug.
