Accessories are the jewelry of the home. They make a statement and are essential to bringing a space to the next level. While adding uniqueness to any room, accessories often reflect personal style and complete the overall design of a space. Accessories can be functional, such as bowls, vases, or even books.

While giving character to a room, accessories let you showcase your interests and personality. The special touches can often be great conversational pieces. When displaying accessories, I like to create continuity by grouping like items or themed-type items together. Layering in varying heights adds interest and visual depth, while guiding the eye around the room. I focus on quality over quantity, as there needs to be space for the eye to rest and breathe. Achieving the proper balance will keep your space from looking too cluttered.

My favorite accessories are pillows. I love to incorporate textiles of various colors and textures; they really can bring life to the room. Mirrors, artwork, and lamps are close seconds, though.
