Eglomise?
Dear Shay,
I often hear you talk about eglomise. What exactly is eglomise? Also, can you use more than one piece of eglomise in your house?
Thanks!

Dear Amanda,
I am so glad you asked this question & I am more than happy to answer. I love eglomise, which is probably why you hear me talk about it so much.
According to Wikipedia, eglomise is “from the French term meaning glass gilded, is a process where the backside of the glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf using a gelatin adhesive. The result is a mirror-like, reflective finish in which designs are then engraved. The technique dates back to the pre-Roman eras, but its name is derived from 18th century French decorator and art-dealer Jean-Baptise Glomy (1711–1786) who is responsible for its re-popularization.”
Eglomise is used throughout the furniture industry. I think you could definitely have more than one piece of eglomise furniture in your home, but I would be careful not to get more than 2 in one room. They are usually such stand out pieces & multiple pieces could easily become too much for a room to handle.
Check out some of my favorite eglomise pieces below.
Happy Decorating!!!
