Here’s one bedroom detail you’ll appreciate every single morning. 🤍As IBB designer Michael Perkins shares, selecting the right rug isn’t just about choosing a beautiful pattern or texture. Scale and placement are just as important!Think about where your feet will actually land when you get out of bed. Your rug should extend far enough beyond the sides of the bed that you’re stepping onto something soft and comfortable—not the edge of the rug or bare floor.Designer takeaway: A properly sized rug does more than anchor your furnishings. It brings balance, warmth, and comfort to the entire room.

The perfect bedside lamp is all about proportion. ✨As IBB designer Cindy Tadie shares, selecting lamps for your bedroom involves more than choosing a beautiful style. It’s important to consider the height and scale of your headboard and nightstands together to create a balanced composition.Lamps that are too small can get lost beside a substantial headboard, while oversized lamps can overwhelm the entire arrangement.Designer takeaway: Think of your bed, nightstands, and lamps as one complete composition. Each piece should complement the others, creating beautiful balance without competing for attention. It’s these thoughtful details that make a bedroom feel beautifully pulled together. 🤍

A beautiful sofa is one thing. A beautiful sofa that fits the way YOU like to sit? That’s where great design meets comfort. 🤍As IBB designer Shannon Gidney shares, selecting the perfect sofa goes beyond overall dimensions. Seat depth plays a huge role in how comfortable a sofa actually feels.Do you love to curl up with your feet tucked underneath you? A deeper seat might be your favorite. Prefer sitting upright with your feet comfortably on the floor? A shallower seat may be a better fit.Designer takeaway: Don’t just measure it—sit in it! And let your designer help you find the right combination of seat depth, cushion support, and proportions for the way you actually live.Because the best sofa isn’t just the one that looks beautiful in your room. It’s the one you never want to get up from. ✨

The beauty is in the details. The magic is in the teamwork. ✨Behind every beautifully designed space are countless conversations, creative ideas, thoughtful selections, and a team of designers that genuinely love what they do.From the perfect fabric combination to the smallest finishing detail - collaboration, creativity, and attention go into every IBB project. We may obsess over the details, but that’s because we know how much they matter.

You really get to know a designer when you make them choose between two things they love. 😂We’re back with another round of This or That, and #teamIBB is revealing a few more of their design preferences.Whose answers have you saying, “YES, exactly!”? ⬇️

Matchy- matchy isn’t the goal—in fact, curated is they key!As Joan shares, your dining chairs don’t need to perfectly match your dining table. Mixing complementary finishes, materials, and styles creates depth and gives the room a much more collected, interesting feel. And while we’re at it…just step away from the matching furniture sets altogether. 😉 A room is far more interesting when the pieces feel thoughtfully curated rather than purchased as a group.Designer takeaway: Coordinate, don’t match. That’s where the personality begins. ✨

It fits the room…but will it fit through the door? As Jory shares, selecting the right furniture isn’t just about the dimensions and scale of the room. You also have to consider the journey it takes to get there—door and hallway widths, tight corners, staircases, elevators, and every turn along the way.Because the perfect sofa isn’t quite so perfect if it can’t make it into the room. 😂Designer takeaway: Measure the space, but don’t forget to measure the path to it. Planning ahead also gives your designer time to anticipate challenging spaces and determine the best solution before installation day—whether that means selecting a different construction, arranging special delivery logistics, or finding another way in.A little planning on the front end can save a lot of surprises on installation day. 🤍
